NYU is world famous for how terrible the financial aid is. As far as the actual numbers go, does anybody know the average package? I'm paying 20K at a SUNY right now. Would a transfer student such as myself reasonably be able to get 30K in need-based and possibly talent-based aid to make NYU cost as much as I'm paying now?

Probably not, and any aid that you may get will probably be composed mostly of loans instead of college grants.

You would have to be someone that wanted very badly.

I actually called the office today because I noticed the FA deadline had passed, but the woman wasn’t very optimistic in telling me what my possibilities were. She kept reiterating that I was better off sending in my FAFSA sooner rather than later. I wasn’t expecting to get any of the money I would have needed to attend even if I had been on time and accepted in May, so I’ve decided to just forgo the application. Oh well…

If you commute from Brooklyn, wouldn’t that save you a bundle too?
