Financial Aid for Penn - Re-evaluation questiong.

Hey!

So I was very fortunate and was granted admission to Penn! I didn't think I would be accepted, and was going to go to a private liberal arts college that offered me full-tuition (36k per year). I also got full-tuition to a state school (14k per year). The fact the I got full scholarships to other schools really makes my college decision tough. I'm not sure how much Penn will give me yet, since they are processing my financial aid (i updated it to 2012 tax forms recently). I was wondering, is it normal to call the financial services and "ask for money". What I mean is to call them and say that I was offered full tuition to another college but I REALLY want to go to Penn instead and that it is my dream school, and if it is possible for Penn to help out financial a bit?

I suggest that you first wait to receive your financial aid package. Then if you aren’t satisfied you can talk to your financial aid officer and submit a reevaluation request. They are usually pretty nice and might bump up financial aid if you can explain your family’s situation well.

Once you get all of your packages from all of your schools, submit the best one to Penn (especially if it is another top tier school, they are very competitive about their students). Also include an explanation of circumstances if you have any.
