Financial Aid for someone making around 150-160K?

Hi I'm currently a senior in high school finishing the last batch of my college apps.
Does Columbia offer decent financial aid for someone in my income bracket?
Money is a deciding factor. Thanks.

My family is around $200K and we got around 60%. Keep on mind they’ll match your offer with other top schools.

Depends on the details in the FAFSA and PROFILE

only one way to tell . . .

apply for financial aid and see what you get

P.S. Better to have the “how much can we afford net” discussion with your parents sooner rather than wait until April . . that way when the offers come in you’ll know which ones are financially impossible and you won’t get all aflutter about going there

In our family it had to start with a “2”

@FutureVPFinance - Do you mind sharing some more info on your financial situation? My parents’ combined income is less than $200K, but my financial aid package is not looking so great.

General question: For ED, does the financial aid package generally change (for the better) after submitting 2012 tax forms and other documents?

Thanks.

Depends on if your parents made more/less during 2012 than in 2011, since they do a little recalculation based on the new tax files you submit. For example, my parents made slightly less money and Columbia tuition/fees ended up going up, so we got slightly more aid in the end. Probably might do a bit with the state of the economy as well.

If you’re not happy with the estimate you can always submit a letter or something with your 2012 documents, or talk to the finaid office directly. They are nice if somewhat disorganized people.

Uh, financial aid depends on a lot more than your family’s gross income. It also depends on family size, your assets, etc.
