Does williams give fin. aid to wait-listees? And can any1 tell wen is the earliest we can get to know about wait-list decisions?

I called them yesterday, the guy told me that they are still need-blind to all candidates on the waitlist, including internationals.

that's great news...

according to what ms. shen wrote to my GC, may 15th is the earliest...

but i have already heard 2 people getting off the wait-list at Duke.. do u think they would be giving US nationals preference in selecting off the wait-list?

i actually think it's not a matter of giving nationals or internationals the preference. it's like two different ball games. US nationals are mainly sponsored on federal aid whereas international students are sponsored by the college's resources. Since the college's resources are limited, Williams probably have a quota as to how many international students with financial aid can be admitted. So if they don't meet that quota, then they will pick international students from the waitlist. That's why I don't understand how the need-blind policy can work for internationals... if they don't know how much the admitted internationals are asking for, how are they going to plan their budget?
