financial aid form

hey, on my financial aid offer letter within bearfacts, it states that "The Verification of Family Members in College Form is missing."

does anyone else with a financial aid offer have this? if not, what exactly is this form and where can i obtain it to complete my financial aid file?

Mine says that too. Now I'm confused.

they should have sent you a letter/packet by now..i got mine, but mine is for parent income verification

<a href="http://students.berkeley.edu/fao/pdf/veroffam06-07.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://students.berkeley.edu/fao/pdf/veroffam06-07.pdf</a></p>

It's that. Mmm, I guess I have to get my sisters to get their info so I can send it.

Did they send you a form to fill out asking for your parents tax forms and your siblings' college information? You were supposed to include your siblings college transcripts to prove that they're currently students along with your parents tax forms for 2005.

<a href="http://students.berkeley.edu/fao/forms-2006.html%5B/url%5D">http://students.berkeley.edu/fao/forms-2006.html</a></p>

nope didn't send me that. all i received was the Financial Aid Award Notification letter that listed the stuff. did i need to accept / confirm that stuff? when's the deadline for this?

thanks for the info...are you guys who received such forms and information entering freshmen, or is this based off of knowledge from previous years?

I think they randomly mailed the verification form out (I'm a transfer, if you're wondering) to people regardless of whether they'll actually be attending Berkeley or not--kind of like an audit. I'm not sure if there's actually a deadline, but it said on the letter, "Fnding for University grants and scholarships is limited. Priority for these funds to given to students who submit their verification documents by July 15, 2006."

oh ok whew that at least gives me a general idea of a time frame...i'll be sure to contact them to figure this all out..

thanks a ton for the info!

Okay this helped a lot too.

However, I am still super confused about this whole financial aid stuff. I did receive the award summary in the mail and what not that outlined the loans, grants, scholarships etc etc. Now what do I do with this? How do I hmm "act on this" now?

I guess this might be a stupid question and I probably can find it somewhere but I'm terribly confused with...everything.

So now what?

Just like double, I have to print that out and send it to them ASAP. So we were supposed to send parents' taxes right? Is that what I'm missing or is that what they're talking about?

Thanks a lot, whoever can help.

i gave em a call today; they said i only needed to send them that exact form that was listed as missing on bear facts, which was the verification of family members in college form.

based off of this, i'm assuming that you're good to go with just sending them whichever form is needed (listed) on bear facts as missing (and what makes your application incomplete).

if you want to be sure, go ahead and give them a call...
undergrad financial aid office: 510-642-6442
hours: 9-11:30am, 1-3:30pm

the thing that seemed weird to me was that i had to go out and find which form to send in and take the initiative to find out what was wrong...

i guess it all works out in the end, though...as long as that july 15 deadline is the generally correct time frame.

Okay, I should definitely give them a call.

And I think that is weird too. I would sort of have shrugged it off and not thought much of it. I did think of it but wasn't sure what was going on. Thanks.
