Financial aid forms

Which ones does UVA accept? I have spent a good about of time on the websites and am still confused. What I have gathered is:

Submit FAFSA

correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, there is a UVA-specific Financial Aid Application. Do I need to fill that out at the same time, or not until I have enrolled, etc.?

I don't want to miss anything. Thanks.

You should fill out the UVA specific form and the FAFSA if you are hoping to know what aid you get if you get accepted in April.

even if i am not necessarily going there? the UVA form makes it seem like it's only if you are for sure going there.....?

Yeah, I know it kind of s-u-c-k-s but if you want to know what kind of financial aid you'll be offered when your letter arrives (hoping it will be good), that's the only way. Otherwise you are in limbo. I would do all the financial aid papers for your highest choices>>like maybe your top 3 realistic choices.
I didn't do mine for Harvard, because I knew I wouldn't get in there. But I followed my gut feeling about real options and filled out 3 of those.

Marie, if you wait to file your forms until you get your offer letters, you're not going to hear back from the aid offices at most schools in time for your May 1st decision deadline. You should file forms for all of your schools ASAP.

The "priority" date for filing at UVa is March 1st.

As always, the Student Financial Services website for prospective students is the best place to find answers to these sorts of questions. Read the "Applying for Financial Aid" website very carefully because they want more than just your FAFSA and UVa supplement filed.

is the deadline for submitting tax forms also march 1st?

Once again, you should look at the SFS website for information.

In general, there are NO deadlines in the Financial Aid process. However, when you file later, there is less money in the proverbial pot. It is in your best interest to file as soon as possible. This applies to ALL of the schools on your list; it's not specific to UVa.

How good is finacial aid at UVA? How much money should an applicant with an fmaily income of 24K and EFC of 0 expect ot get? Is it mainly grants or loans?

When will the Entering/Transfer University Financial Aid Application for 2008-2009 be available?

If your documentation shows this, your package will be 100% grant.

Student Financial Services would be the best group to field this question.
