I applied EA for Tulane, and was accepted back in the beginning of November, but I still haven't heard anything about financial aid. I was wondering if anyone received any packages, or if anyone knows when we should receive them. Thanks!

We haven’t. Just merit aid.

According to Jennifer McNeel in the financial aid office, “around March 15”.

Hmm… Today is “around March 15!!” :(

LOL, the 16th and 17th are around the 15th also. It will be soon.

Let’s hope so!

On Tulane’s financial aid page, if you click on recent news(I think that is what it is called) it says the will START to post financial aid online the week of March 15, which means that not all will be posted…notice the START in all caps. That is how the website posted it so surely everyone will hear by the end of the week.

bumppp. Anyone get any results yet?

As I posted elsewhere, F/A packages will go out from 3/15 through 4/15.
This is from an admission counselor at an admitted students reception I attended on Tuesday.

Majormajorhelp, we are not so patiently awaiting financial aid notifications too. Lucky for D she is way to busy with a show opening tonight to obsess the way I am! Checked Gibson as soon as I got home from work - nothing today.

There is a new message on the Tulane Financial Aid website (not Gibson). My condensed version : financial aid notifications for incoming freshmen will BEGIN Friday the 19th and the majority will be notified in the next 2 weeks - apology for delay etc…

What is the average amount of need based aid from Tulane? Does anyone know anything about the no loan assistance for families with income less than $75,000?

Hi heltonmom - here is the link. [Need-Based Scholarship](http://finaid.tulane.edu/idxneed_NOLA_scholarship.htm) I don’t know anything beyond this.

coming from NY, a trip to Tulane isn’t exactly going to be in my budget…unless i know it’s actually a viable choice for college (which i won’t know until i get my finalized package)

the frustrations of applying EA and still having no clue lol

wompwomp - That is completely understandable. If you don’t get a package until April 15, that leaves you very little time. Especially since Tulane is on break March 29-April 5. I would call your admissions counselor, explain that you have these constraints and need some time to plan, and is there any way they could move your financial aid package decision up in the queue. I don’t think that would hurt you at all.

When I’ve been logging in to the financial aid link it showed the total cost as about 52,000. Today the total cost is recorded as over 54,000. Has anyone else noticed the change and where are the extra costs? Has anyone seen a financial aide offer yet online?

joseif:Yes and no. Saw the $54,000 and no awards posted. I emailed my son’s admissions counselor and she said that FA is a completely different department and that she has no control or knowledge of the aid situation, but completely understood that we cannot move forward until we know whether Tulane is affordable. She suggested that I contact the FA office, which I did, but could only leave a voicemail. The receptionist, who was not very friendly, (probably tired of hearing from parents like me)said that they were working on FA and that the results will be out in the next few weeks! Very tough situation. Can’t make reservations for the Honors Weekend without knowing if Tulane is a possibility and can’t wait too much longer to make reservation because the flights will be ridiculous.

Josief, in addition to tuition, fees, room and board, your updated “Cost of attendance” includes a transportation allowance, books, and misc. expenses. My daughters COA was 54,600. Be sure to click on the requirements tab as they have recently listed “unsatisfied” requirements (tax returns, w2s, etc) so you know what’s missing from your file. I was told that award notifications will still go out as long as they have a FAFSA and Profile, but those unsatisfied requirements must be met by May 1.

MomwithPride: +1 This is our daughter’s situation precisely. Of course we keep receiving email messages almost daily pressing for our decision, which is not possible without the FA information.

We also get those emails stating that they need our decison which we know we have until May 1. Unfortunately financial aid plays a huge role in so many students final decision when choosing a college. I logged into Gibson earlier and they do have my sons merit scholarship listed now so maybe we will find out something soon. We are needing to book his flight for Honors Weekend but again that will depend on his financial aid package.
