Financial Aid from Tulane

WE FINALLY HAVE FINANCIAL AID AWARD! I am very impressed with what Tulane has offered my son. We knew he had received the Distinguished Scholar Award of $22,000, with that included his total package was for $50,200 with only $8500 in loans! Total cost of attendance is $54,560.00.

Now the headache of deciding between 2 schools begins. He better make up his mind before I am forced to accept one of the offers…because I already know which one I would accept : )

Finally!!! Congrats! that’s fantastc! now it’s decision time. Good luck!

Heltonmom!!! Wonderful. Outstanding! Tell your son I am sorry, but he has no choice. FC says it is Tulane, and that is that. I am sure that will carry lots of weight, lol.

Seriously, what a great package! I can feel the relief from your home way up here.

BTW, you might not have known this but I did some post-grad work at GT. Just saying.

Congrats, great news heltonmom! D’s loans were in that range too, she accepted everything but $2,000 in unsubsidized Stafford, I’d like to avoid that if we can make it work any other way.

Just sayin…GT is out for us…LOL

Now Oxford/Emory or Tulane…oh my head hurts already!

I will give my son that message…it will carry as much weight as anything I say. You do know that teenagers know what is best. LOL

fallen…I may be sending you a message with a couple of questions if that is ok.

Heltonmom - Of course. Fire away.

dfunckmom - Congrats to you as well. Sounds like Tulane is really coming through for most people. I’ll never understand the whole process, for sure.

I’m still waiting…this is nerve wracking :[

Congrats to everyone!

Also still waiting! Anyone else?

Still waiting here.

Also still waiting :/

We got the financial aid:), but it is not as good as UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, and UC Irvine, still waiting on USC Financial Aid :(

Heltonmom–Finally!!! Congratulations and worth the wait.

I meant the financial Aid is not as good, not the school.
Right now we love Tulane, we are visiting next weekend.

Vitrac…Thanks…it was so worth the wait. And he has finally made a decision…TULANE IT IS!

mommy23…is this going to be your first visit?

Yes, it will be our first visit, and we are really looking forward to it. I am a little worried about sending my baby so far away. We live in So. Ca.

Congrats on the fine FA package and fine decision!! Emory at Oxford is very different from Tulane. Your s will love NOLA!

And hang in there, everyone who is still waiting… hopefully it will be worth the wait!

mommy23…I completely understand. I live in North Georgia, 8 hour drive to New Orleans and it feels like I am sending him off to another planet. We did visit in October and LOVED it. It is hard to let go and that is why the 2 colleges he narrowed it down to were so different. Oxford/Emory is a couple hours away, small, safe, boring…LOL, and where I wanted him to want to be, but I knew Tulane is where he should be.
My son has Asperger’s Syndrome and after many hours of discussing his options at both schools, we all agree that he needs Tulane, not only for the education he will receive but for the social skills that he lacks due to the Asperger’s. He was accepted to 9 very different colleges and I can honestly say, I think his decision to accept Tulane’s offer tells me he is ready…I just hope I am.
So thankful for his financial aid package!

Ahhh. Makes sense, heltonmom. Understand now why Emory at Oxford was a comfortable transition. I am also in N GA. I promise, the drive isnt all that awful. I can tell you all the good places to stop for meals and gas!!

The drive wasn’t so bad and I have checked on flights so he can come home if he wants or needs to and it’s not expensive for a round trip ticket. But yes, the Asperger’s is why the other one was one of his choices, but I think he will be fine at Tulane. If he doesn’t try, he will never know.
