Okay, so I've been living here in the U.S for about 12 years now. Still don't have my green card. something happened with the sponsor. So now i'm stuck as a high school senior with an F-2 visa. My parents definitely cannot pay for my college and there is no financial help available for international students except for some schools.

Would it be possible for me to get residential price since i've been living here for awhile?
oh i live in california by the way.

I've applied to San Diego St, Cal state long beach, cal state fullerton, and cal poly san luis obispo. I want to apply to a couple UC's but i dont know if they'll give me any assistance with financial aid.

I also want to apply to university of oregon as well as university of washington.

How can i get enough financial help in order to get my F-1 visa?

Also for these cal states and UC's, when do i ask about financial aid or when will they notify me of how much i am getting?

Yes, if you’ve lived in CA that long you will get in state rates. However, you will not get financial aid on top of that. Your best bet will probably be to attend a CSU commuting from home and paying with summer earnings and a part-time job, or going to a community college for 2 years while saving for the last 2 years at a CSU.

Oregon and Washington probably won’t be possible without a family contribution unless you have off the charts stats for merit aid.

Oregon and Washington aren’t going to give you ANYTHING…so don’t bother applying there. I don’t think they would even give you decent merit.

You will get the in-state rate at Calif publics but no financial aid. They use FAFSA and you have to have a green card or be a citizen. I don’t think the Calif publics are allowed to give int’ls need-based aid.

You probably need to be prepared to accept that you’ll either have to start at a CC or a Cal state that you can commute to and pay all your own costs.

What are your stats? Maybe some schools will give you big merit?
