Financial aid help!

I need some help with my financial aid..

So MYCSULB is offering me about $10,000 in grants a year, so $5,000 a semester.

According to their "cost of attendance" chart, they estimate tuition and books/supplies to be ~$4,000.

Does this mean that they will give me whatever is leftover for personal expenses?

Also, the disbursement date is shown to be January 2014... How will I pay for tuition and apartment fees without my aid until then?

Does anyone know how to request more loans?

For 2 discuss an installment plan

The rest of your grant will be deposited into your account, so make sure you sign up for e-refund on mycsulb. Disbursement dates should be August 16th. You can check the bank for a loan if you did not qualify for one from FAFSA.

So does this basically mean I get free schooling? The amount of grants is a little more than expenses, according to their estimates. All I have to do is pay for housing?

I’m just hoping they calculated it accurately…

-I’m taking out $7500 in loans a year, plus a $2500 work study. I also have a weekend job that pays about $300-500 a month, but the days are unstable.

Do you guys think this is enough to live on my own?
