Financial Aid Help?

Hey everybody, so I was looking at my financial aid and noticed that my Gold and Blue plan cover tuition and books and also I'm commuting,so no dorming :).

But, I was wondering the extra expenses noted on my financial aid like transportation, housing, and food are just ESTIMATED guess of how much I could possibly pay at home. I don't have to pay anything else to the school right since I got my fees and books covered?

Also, I got a $3,500 scholarship, so how is that going to effect my financial aid package?

So if one is living off campus, meaning your housing fees would not be paid to UC Berkeley, the money listed in your financial aid package is your BUDGET for living expenses and overall non-tution fees.

This is a limit, of how much scholarship money you can receive, or how many loans you can take out in a given semester/ school year.

Example:
Tuition: $12,878 = Covered by Blue and Gold Plan
Housing + Books + Transportation off campus $13,000= This is the maximum amount of scholarships you can receive, or loans you can withdraw in a given academic year or semester.
