Alright I have decided to stay in-state and attend a college up Maine. My mother is re-married and the incomes they both make is fairly okay money for middle class families. I have done my FAFSA and recieved my SAR back from the school I am hoping to go to. I only recieved ONE scholarship from the school & what they gave me back for loans were horrible! I have been applying to tons of scholarships on my own. Also, my parents WILL NOT sign for any loans for me AT ALL.
Are there any places I can get a loan (im only 18.. no credit)
If I sign up for a credit card today, will I build up enough credit to get a loan for september?
Can my sister (who has thousands and thousands of dollars in loans out already) sign my loans?

Well, I don't know about the rest of your information, but I don't recommend getting a credit card for that purpose. You need at least 6 months to build a credit history. My advice would be to call a few banks that have programs and ask because even though you don;t have credit, banks see the hope of you graduating as some type of collateral. Maybe you should get a credit card in hopes for next year.

You cannot put college tuition on a credit card easily. First the interest rates are sky high. Second...as a college student, your credit line will have a limit. My kid's first credit card had a $500 limit...hardly enough to pay for college. Your sister cannot cosign for you...she's in debt. If your family is truly destitute you can apply for additional Stafford loans and those are in your name. But it doesn't sound like your family is destitute. Is there any way you can live at home, attend a community college and work part time...save some money and go to the university for your final two years?
