so i got into usc fall 09 through appeal. the problem is, i turned my financial aid application in a week late (i didnt know the deadline), then upon researching,
it SEEMS THE DEADLINE TO TURN IN PARENTS TAX RETURN IS MARCH 2. I STILL HAVENT TURNED MINES IN YET..........

usc never emailed me requesting for these documents.
Am i even going to get financial aid?

My EFC is 0, and my usc EFC is 0, and there is NO WAY i could go to usc without ALOT of financial aid......
im in desperate need of help
what do i do?

USC only guarantees to meet 100% of need for students who turn in all documentation and applications by the deadlines published on their website, so I do not know what the results will be. After submitting everything (you can FAX the tax returns this weekend) call and see what they say. I hope it works out well - did you get financial aid applications in on time at your other schools just in case?

hey thanks,
yeah i already turned in my ccs/fafsa (but 1 wk late

i had already sir-ed/submitted finan aid to ucsd, but i really, REALLY WANNA BE A TROJAN…

sigh why is life so unfair? After i get in through appeal, i was like “YESSS, THIS IS THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE,”
now, my life is over…:(

I wouldn’t give up entirely. USC was extremely generous to me, also with an efc of 0, and I faxed in my parent income stuff about 2-3 weeks late, and after I turned in everything they requested additional documents that totaled up to over a month and a half after the March 1st deadline. I did receive my financial aid very late though. Granted, you’ll be turning in your forms extremely late, but there’s still hope.

That is good to hear, longnguyen. To clarify, your FAFSA+CSS/Profile were on-time, but your tax returns were submitted late?

USC is very generous with their aid - the biggest problem may be that they might have exhausted some of their federal aid allotments such as work/study and Perkins loans you may have qualified for with your EFC. Please update us when you get your offer so others in your situation next year will have an idea of what to expect.

Stay hopeful, uchopeful73! (hmmm… if you get a good offer, you may have to change that user name!)

Yeah, only my tax returns were late, but USC needed everything to begin processing my financial aid, so I didn’t receive any additional document requests until a good while after I submitted the tax returns. I doubt many people are still submitting financial aid stuff this late, which is both good and bad. Bad that it’s late. Good that your documents will be reviewed and processed quickly. My guess anyway, but good luck.

I hear appeals receive it late, maybe in June?

YEAH, its been about 3 weeks since I gained admission through appeal, and I STILL havent received my financial aid package…i already deposited, and all I need to REALLY commit (and withdraw from other college) is my financial aid…

this whole process has been sooo frustrating!..i called them mid may and they told me theyd have it in one-two weeks…then i called them near the end of may (may 28?), and according to them, theyd have it by next week…

so yeah…i just called them and now theyre saying IN A COUPLE MORE WEEKS???

So, have any other appealers received their financial aid?

i have a question… My EFC is also 0 and i only sent inmy FAFSA on time and not the CSS :-x, I sent in the CSS and tax stuff on june 2nd and now i am worried about what my award will look like? My mom(divorced) only makes 20,000 a year, so does anyone think that I will get a good award being so late and all?

@azazi: Relax, you should do fine. I just got off the phone with a financial aid rep and the person said that usc is usually generous, even with the late apps.

So, about a month after getting in, i finally received my fa package. My efc is 0 for other schools, but according to usc, my contribution is 4500 (most likely because I applied late, (single mom making under 28k w/ no assets/house/etc, with 3 kids in college).

My award is composed of about 25k in usc grant, 15k in state/federal, 2.5k in workstudy, 5.5k in loans (might end up 10k, to make up for the gap); totaling about 48k…

I’m actually very surprised (and pleased) with uscs generosity, especially after i submitted some apps late.
Yup yup, Im now OFFICIALLY a TROJAN, thanks for all the help, and FIGHT ON!
