Financial Aid Help

Hello Everyone! I just got my financial aid award and they're expecting my family to pay 45K!!!!!!!!!!
I just don't get it. Fafsa calculated my efc to be ~30k! Is there any way I can ask usc for more money? It's my first choice school and I would love to go there, but there's no way my parents can pay 45. Please Help!

It can’t hurt to contact the financial aid office to discuss it. They will tell you what factors they used to calculate your EFC and you can present any special circumstances.

im in the same boat…im freaking out… my efc was like 15k and got no help from USC…

How should I contact them? A phone call? It won’t annoy them will it?

How did you find out about your financial aid? Was it mailed or did you check a website? I still haven’t heard about my financial aid yet.

I’m afraid to get our FA package because our EFC is around $15,000 through FAFSA. I have a feeling that it’s not going to be good news. :(

BTW, do you sing? I noticed your username. My daughter is alto section leader in her jazz choir and hope to sing in an a cappella group in college.

thank you =) im just hopin i get money from grants…hope my phone call goes well. I hate to have to pay 55k for a year =( but i really wanna go to USC!

2Leashes, you can’t really compare packages based on the FAFSA EFC because USC also uses the CSS/Profile. The information on your Profile may have been completely different than another poster.

hawaiiboy1992 - don’t worry about “annoying” them! It is perfectly appropriate to ask why the Profile information had such a big impact on your EFC, to present any special circumstances, and to ask them if they can take another look at your file. The worst they can do is say “no.”

tenorforlife: Same as hawaiiboy1992!

Good luck!!!
