Financial Aid Help

As of now my financial aid information is not posted. I submitted my FASFA back in Feburary, but submitted my CSS late. As you know May 1st is right around the corner. I have called my financial aid counselor multiple times during the week but every time I have called she is in a meeting and unavailable to reach so I have left multiple voice mails. However, she has not called back from any of them. I have also talked to my regular Tulane counselor, but she is out of town for a week now. So basically I am in panic mode right now. What do you guys recommend I do? Thank you very much for your help!

Correction - I sent my FAFSA in Jan 20 but Tulane processed it according to Gibson in Feburary

Have your tried e-mailing your FA counselor? That helped for us. You might want to cc the the Assoc. VP of FA as well. After leaving several voice mail messages, emailing worked for us. Good luck…

Thanks for you reply. Is there a place where I can find a direct email to my financial aid counselor or the V.P of FA?

On the Tulane website under FA you’ll find your counselor’s email and directly under the counselors you’ll find the leadership team of VPs.

Thanks guys finally got my financial aid package but even with the aid its impossible for me to go to the wonderful school. Apparently house assets are included… I am not sure what CSS wants my family to do. Sell my house and use it to pay for college? Anyways thanks for the help!

I am not completely familiar with the process, but I think most private schools do take into account the fact that your family could, in theory at least, take out an equity loan against the house. I am sorry it didn’t work out for you, but I am sure you will be happy and successful wherever you end up. Best of luck!

Yes, I believe the CSS does consider home equity, whereas the FAFSA does not.
