I m filing for bankruptcy and is wondering if this would affect me negatively in getting financial aid when I go back to school later. Anyone know?

If you owe on student loans from the past, and if you are still in active bankruptcy when you apply for aid, you will probably be asked to provide the school a letter from the court showing that any student loans you have are not included in the bankruptcy. Other than that, there is no negative effect on federal aid (other than the graduate PLUS, which requires a credit check - so you may not get that if you apply).

There is no slack cut for anything related to the bankruptcy as far as the EFC is concerned, though.
