Financial Aid in UVA

I am starting to go paranoid with the financial aid from UVA. When I turn in one form, they ask for more forms, and this has been preventing me from completing my financial aid form.
Does this mean that I won't receive as much financial aid?
Will all financial aid letters come before May 1st?
Please respond as soon as possible!! T-T I'm REALLY desperate for some answers...
UVA is the school I really want to go to but if I really need the financial aid...

i’m having the same problem and im freaking out! i handed in the required forms before the deadline but they keep asking for additional information. UVa is my top choice but i cant go if i don’t get financial aid and I need to know if I’ll be getting it before May 1 so that I can make a decision. Someone help please!!!

Grammatical error… I meant to say “I really need the financial aid”
Anyway, please help!

You’ll be fine! UVA just asks for more information so they can verify. If worse comes to worse, you can call the financial aid office, but I’m positive UVA will have everything ready for you before May 1st. UVA is AMAZING with handling financial aid… AMAZING

Having the same problem. FAFSA and CSS Profile were submitted to all of my schools by Feb.15th. Tax returns were submitted to UVA on Feb.17th. I received the financial aid packages from my other 8 schools by March 30th with no issues and no requests for additional information. UVA keeps requesting more forms to fill out and more information. It’s very frustrating. How come none of the other 8 schools had an issue with my paperwork? Sorry, I don’t think UVA is AMAZING with handling financial aid.

@funtimes101 - UVA has to verify if your information is accurate. Also, UVA has it’s own special financial aid program called AccessUVA, which is one of the best financial aid programs in the country. I, and many other students, love AccessUVA.

Here’s a link: [AccessUVa - Makes it Happen](http://www.virginia.edu/financialaid/access.php)

Check your To Do list. They can’t post packages if items are still there. Also make sure you faxed in the signature sheet and tax forms.

@cladbury- Like I said in my post, tax returns were faxed to UVA on Feb.17th. Signature sheet was faxed on March 26th. Whenever I check my To Do list there are more items they want me to submit.
@big- 2 of my other schools are also 100% meet need schools and neither one of those is questioning my information. AccessUVA might be a great program, but my family is not in a position to accept an offer of admission without knowing what the cost is going to be. If I don’t have my fin aid package by April 30th, I will have to pick another school.

There has to be a limit on what they can ask for. As long as you get all the papers in by April 30th your aid won’t be limited.

thanks for the replies everyone!
and just like funtimes says, my family really can’t afford to choose a college without knowing the financial aid letters come… i just hope it comes in the week before May 1st

Still haven’t received it. I’m getting really scared :frowning: Is it true that it only comes out on Thursdays?

I would think you could ask for an extension of the May 1 deadline if you have not received your financial aid by then.

Still haven’t received mine yet either. My mom called the office on Friday and she was told that they do not extend the May 1st deadline and they could not tell her when I would have my package. All of my paperwork was submitted way before the deadline and every time they wanted a new form or more information I faxed it the same day or the next day. This is ridiculous and unfair. They should refund the application fee and css profile fee if they can’t provide the financial information before May 1st.

^Same called and told me they wouldn’t have it by May 1. Same situation I had everything in on time and when they asked for additional info I sent it that day. I’m miserable. This is and has always been my top choice and now I can’t go because they don’t have my financial aid package on time and my family can’t pay for it if I don’t receive enough aid. So infuriated at this whole system how is this fair?

I’d push a little harder with the admissions office to get an extension if your financial aid is not available.

If that doesn’t work, you may have to put down a deposit at two colleges. If you explain the facts, your second choice college may also be willing to give you a time extension to put down a deposit.
