Financial Aid Info?

check now I just got an email said that I was awarded aid

I have the email that says Financial aid awarded, but when I go onto financial aid it still says under review.

same here – and my son did not apply for financial aid. Maybe the Buckeye and other scholarships post there, but still says “under review” – he’s still waiting for the Scholars assignment to post, along with orientation sign-up now that he committed to OSU.

I got the email ten minutes ago and mine says “under review” too. Perhaps the financial aid will be uploaded after midnight?

Lol mine was up haha and all i got was the 5500 loan

Financial Aid really is nothing here haha thankful for the 15 in merit tho

Earlier it was showing “under review”. My son just checked. It now shows details of his scholarships (Provost and National Buckeye) and Federal loan offered with the breakdown by semester.

Ours is up! We are OOS. Now looking at the amount we will owe on print makes it real. We got the $15,000 and nothing more :frowning:

I love how schools “award” you all the debt you can handle. Oh well… happy S received merit. Nothing more but its something. will see how it plays out against his others.

I’m out of state as well and I’m surprised that I got 10K in grants.

My family’s OOS and income is like 60,000, our efc was almost half that, and all I got last night was a $5,500 loan. Thank goodness I got some merit scholarships. I’m still submitting tonnnssss of outside scholarship applications and I’m probably going to be in loads of debt still.

Will they withhold other financial aid if your family is military and they think you will use the GI bill? I hope that’s not the case, because my parents are saving the GI bill for my sister :frowning: because they don’t think she’ll win any merit scholarships.

I have a question. I got the grant and loan today, and I am an in state student and qualify for living outside of campus. However, when I applied to the financial aid, I chose to live on campus. If I tell the school I want to live off campus now, will they cut the grant and loan that they have offered me because of the change?

@Cathy96 I believe as long as your grant and loan don’t exceed the COA (tuition, fees, books,misc/pers expenses) you should be ok.

@PeanutsMom‌ Thank you

does anyone know why i didn’t receive any merit scholarships?? I qualify for the national buckeye scholarship but i didn’t get it. it seems everyone else got it

Did you apply for EA or regular decision. If you applied EA they had posted that they will give out merit money until gone. If you applied regular decision they might have run out of money. Call admissions they can probably help you.

I’ve been watching this forum with great interest, and really appreciate all the knowledge we’ve gained!

I’m a bit surprised/miffed about our fun aid offer. My wife applied as a freshman applicant, unfortunately not EA. She just moved here from Scotland in November on a fiancée visa, and as you can imagine, the immigration path hasn’t been easy. Long story short, she was accepted at Oxford to study medicine (they don’t do undergrad-med school), but turned it down to move to the U.S.

We are in process of getting her green card. It’s a 6-8 month process. OSU made her apply as an international applicant, even though she resides in the U.S. (Ohio). Because of her delayed visa to move here, she could not get her application submitted by the priority deadline, and because of lack of green card, cannot submit a fafsa yet.

To quantify her credentials, I’d mentioned she had already been accepted to Oxford (top 5 med school in the world), has a 2300 SAT and 800 SAT biology, 780 SAT Chemistry. Scottish schools grade differently than US schools, but she has roughly a 3.9gpa. All A’s through 4 years, with one B. She’s an Ivy League candidate by most measures. But, I am stationed in Ohio, so she chose the best school here to attend. She has been accepted into the honors program at OSU.

If expected at least some financial contribution from osu, considering their international fees are quite high. She got nothing. No merit, and no need based (obviously, because she can’t file a fafsa).

On the bright side, she will have her green card in a few months, and will be considered a domestic student, which should allow for student loans after the fafsa is completed. But, it’s more than surprising that OSU didn’t offer a dime for her to attend.

We are hoping we can appeal to admissions there to reevaluate due to the circumstances. Anyone have success with calling admissions/fin aid?

I was very disappointed with the aid package OSU put together for my D. Too bad.

Same here. I hope I can still make OSU work. I shouldn’t have let myself fall so far in love with a school!
