So, I've received calls/letters over the past week from Colby and Tufts requesting financial aid information that my parents still haven't submitted (namely my father's Noncustodial Profile).

Now, some members of my family think that these colleges wouldn't be requesting this information this late in the game unless I had
a) already been accepted, or
b) was a good prospect for acceptance.

My question is: is there anyone here who has been in a similar situation, and did you end up being accepted or rejected?

...I really don't think so. I think they just send those things to all applicants who applied for finaid but didn't complete the application. I got such requests from two schools: one a safety and one an über-reach. I wish that it was an acceptance harbinger...

But I feel you on parents filing the Noncustodial Profile 2039875 years late. I just sent my mom's right now. Ugh.

True; it did strike me as a little odd, though, when Colby literally called my cell phone--you would think, it's March 13th, why would they bother, presuming that by this time they knew if I was a reject or not.

It means nothing about admissions. Colleges cannot wait until acceptance decisions are made to determine financial aid packages if they want to meet the April 1 deadline, and allow students time to decide where to go.

Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me. Decisions are mailed on Monday, and I just received a letter from Fordham telling me they were missing something from my finaid file. It wasn't just some generic form though; they also sent a copy of the form that needs to be filled out, and told me to fax everything to them asap. I browsed through some posts from a couple of years back, and it seems that when school's contacted you that late in the game, it's generally a good sign.

I mean, just like you said: If you're rejected, why would they bother when decisions are come out so soon? I applied to a few schools I already knew I had no chance at with the same messed up FAFSA, and they made no mention of it all. So...hopefully it's good news for both of us.

I posted the same question like a week ago and everyone said no. Middlebury told me to send my CSS Profile because they need to make financial aid determination. I thought I might've gotten accepted but wasn't sure either. Hopefully it's a good news for all of us!! =D
