My mother recieved an e-mail from a financial aid lady at Duke. She said that she wanted to further investigate my family's financial need, asking for some information on some properties and stuff. IT was a nice sounding e-mail, and she said that the financial aid department was not a part of the admissions dept. and I know that, but can I at least have some assurance that since I received something from them it is a good sign? and she sent it to my mom which was a bit odd, perhaps because she did not want me to misinterpret the e-mail, BUT STILL! It was sent only a couple days ago. WOuld they waste their time and energy further investigating my financial background if they were going to reject me? can someone with some admissions prowess help me out here.
thanks,
a senior guy with no life, but big dreams of going to duke.

I got the same sort of thing from Emory, and the people over at the board were saying if it says your "file" it's probably a generic sort of email they send to everyone whose missing someone. If it says "award," like the Emory email did, they said it could possibly be a goood thing. I wouldn't say it's for sure, but it's better than not getting anything.

yeah it means nothing. I got that same thing from a school I got rejected from last year. I think it's just automatic.

see, yea i was thinking it was nothing, but it was a personal email, you know? she said she was going over my financial aid stuff and she noticed that we own some properties. She wanted the value of each when we got them and all this stuff. She said it would better help her assess my financial need. I figured at first it was nothing, but then I was like, well I dont think they would waste their time if i was not at least being given consideration. NOnetheless, I think it does not matter becasue i will know in a couple days anyway. I am just getting anxious.
