Financial Aid is OUT

Unfortunately, it's way too low for me.

5,500 in loans other than efc.

mine’s pretty low too…

mine is pretty low too, after getting so happy about my acceptance this is a big blow

i am all kinds of pleased about my finaid. even with my parents’ efc everything is dandy.

My EFC is 5,400 but I’ll have to pay around 12,000 a year after grants and loans… is this big of a gap between EFC and actual cost of attendance normal?
Guess I won’t be attending :(

does anyone know if the loan replacement grant covers stafford loans? my parent’s income is less than 50k, and my EFC is 0. However, the loan still shows up on my financial aid award summary. Does anyone know how this works? Help would be greatly appreciated

I tried calling the financial aid office but they’re only open at the times that i’m at school because 5pm EST is 2 over here in California

Does the 12,000 include $5,500 in Federal loans? If so, back that number out of the $12,000 and you will arrive at $6,500, that would be the number Emory figures your EFC is based on your financial forms.

Total FA: 43,772.00
Total grants: 36,272.00

Amount I’d have to pay a year (out of pocket and loans) = 14,000.

Umm… =/

lovedoctor, I’m in the same situation. My family’s income is around 30,000 but the loans show up

mine is about 5 times my EFC, so i doubt ill be attending to, hopefully ill get into any ivy tomorrow and theyll give me some more aid, its a shame though cos Emory has by all means always been my dream school.

Nothing other than a 5,500 loan. Just like Northwestern. This is unbelievable. Guess I won’t be attending either…

i have this question too. under the loan replacement grant, i shouldn’t be getting any loans.

I’m actually completely covered if I accept the $2000-a-year work study. The rest is grants. Yay for having poor parents!

yes, it includes the 5,500 in federal loans… I hope my other schools offer me more money

I have an EFC of 2866. How can I afford 14,000 a year?

mine’s super low. especially compared to the 31,000 i got from michigan and the full ride i got from villanova. :[ do you think they’ll negotiate?

I guess you have to be really poor or really rich to afford Emory… :p

My D has recieved somewhere close to 51000 dollars (full ride) of financial aid…
She is WAITLISTED…
Can they have made a mistake with her letter?
Did anyone who is waitlisted also have the financial aid package?
Thank you!

Emory is a need blind school which means everyone will have a financial package from finaid office this is totally separate of admissions decision

Hilsa - Emory figures out your EFC based on their formula, so your FAFSA EFC is not the EFC they base your aid on. It is a combination of several different things included in the financial forms you submitted. It sounds like everyone here has a much higher Emory EFC than the FAFSA EFC with maybe one exception.
