Financial Aid is ridiculous

lol, people really seem to be bagging on Cornell’s FA. I guess it just really varies from person to person, and so, in an attempt to balance out the “bad” stories about Cornell FA, I can only offer my personal experience - which has been great.

I received around 40k from Cornell FA (33 in grant, the rest in work and loans which I can easily cover in scholarship) . While I only received 14k from Carnegie Mellon (and half of it was in loans) !

So I found Cornell’s FA to be VERY generous. Compared with other students who have similar (and even slightly lower) family incomes than mine at my high school (which is sending quite a few kids to excellent TOP 25 schools) and family friends, my FA was very, very kind.

But individual stories really mean little, if anything at all, is what I learned from collegeconfidential. Just want to wish everyone good luck in this random game that is college admissions and FA. I feel that you’ll end up where you belong in the end (cheesy, but true).

My family income is around 120k, with another sibling in college. I can afford about 20k. I got nothing at all. I’m kind of put off that the OP is disappointed by their package when there are others that are in far worse shape (I’m not one of them, so don’t start). Sure, I wish my package was better, but I’m not going to let it destroy my hopes to get an education.
