Financial Aid Issues

Is anyone else having issues with their financial aid. My funds did not disburse on Tuesday and the Financial Aid office says they don't know why. They are just offering me a deferment and an advance on the money.

I think that this problem is not isolated to just me and that there are real issues with the new myFSU system. Has anyone else had this problem?

The only other problem anyone reported here was that the system dropped them from their classes, and that they weren’t added back to the person’s schedule until late Friday afternoon (thus delaying that person’s aid).

There’s no widespread issue with the new system in regards to financial aid, or else we’d be hearing a lot about it here, I’m sure.

What you were told by Financial Aid is probably the truth- they don’t know why it happened. But their solution is the standard solution they have. I don’t know if it exists in myFSU but under Blackboard there was even a section specifically for people to apply for an advance on their financial aid if there was a screwup in the system or whatever.

There seems to be a lot of freshmen having issues with their financial aid, but I don’t know if it’s the new system, or the fact that these students are new to the system, if you know what I mean. I don’t think many of those first year students are on this site, so I don’t think there would be much discussion about it on here.

The Class of 2017 Facebook page, which has more than 5000 members, has many complaints posted about Florida Prepaid and Bright Futures not showing up, as well as loans and scholarships “disappearing” before being posted to pay for tuition and housing. I think Financial Aid is giving deferments so that these problems can be solved before late fees hit their accounts.
