Financial Aid Letter 2012-2013

Does Pomona College send its Financial Aid package by mail?

Has anyone who applied EDI or EDII heard back yet? If you have heard back, how many weeks did it take for Pomona to send response? (after they have received your FAFSA, CSS, 2010 Taxes etc?)

So nervous. I hope we can afford Pomona!

I heard back on February 11th for ED2 (the official date was February 15th). I received my (generous) financial aid package along with my acceptance letter (by snail mail). For RD, it says you should find out by April 5th (typically, it’s around March 25th, depending on how close you live to Pomona).

As for affording Pomona, if it really is your top choice, you should let them know that you’d love to go, as well as any comparable offers from other schools. Pomona’s financial aid office is quite generous (it helps that their endowment is the largest per student in the nation, for LACs). Several years ago, I had a friend get accepted to Pomona and Rice, but Rice gave him significantly more money. He could “afford” Pomona, but it would be risky because his father had cancer and the cost of the treatment might have conflicted with the cost of Pomona. He talked with the Pomona financial aid office, and he’s currently a junior there.

Good luck!

Thanks Zrathustra!
