I logged into the website for financial aid today, and I saw this under the tab messages:

"This award has been based, in part, on the 2 students you reported enrolled in higher education. In future years if the number of students enrolled in higher education changes, you will see a corresponding change in your financial aid award."

I did not receive a likely letter, nor any further correspondence from Columbia since I submitted my application in December. I am an international student, if it helps.

I have the same message when I log in. If we can find someone who doesn’t have this message, then we can both be very hopeful. Do you actually have two students reported in higher education? I do; my sister and my dad both attend college.

I didn’t get that message. However, I haven’t sent in the 2009 tax returns yet (just the 2008 ones). It says that those are required for disbursement of my financial aid package.

Oh. I understood that they got this information from this question on the CSS Profile:

"How many people in your parents’ household will be university level students enrolled at least half-time between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011? Do not include your parents. Include yourself. "

I answered 2 for this as both my brother and I will be attending university, however, as of this moment, it is only my brother. I haven’t seen this question anywhere else on the financial aid forms I submitted, so I assume that I answered it correctly. Did you write two as the response for this question in the Profile, or am I missing something?

@ zipper77

I haven’t sent the 2009 tax returns either as we won’t be able to file for them for quite some time. Columbia has our 2008 tax returns. I am quite puzzled as to what this could mean because it doesn’t seem to make much sense.

You could call the financial aid office, they might be able to help you. I’m willing to bet you can be pretty hopeful from this point on. Finding out if someone with a likely letter received the message too could be really helpful as well. Best of luck!

I don’t remember what I put on that question but if you include myself, that is three people who will be attending college next year. So, at least two people.

I messaged a person who I know got a likely letter and they will hopefully get back to me soon.

Lol, I had that message like 2 months ago after I submitted my css profile. Its there because you have 2 people who are going to be attending college next year. Def not a likely

I just checked and DD’s still shows that CSS Profile has not sent along all of the tax information, just the cover form. You’d think they had plenty of time, we even filed taxes early this year to get the 2009 forms in!!

They just updated the tracker with my documents today (3/22/2010). I submitted the documents a month ago. I wouldn’t worry about it if I were you guys- there’s just a lot of paperwork to get through, so it takes awhile.
