Financial Aid Notification?

Has anyone received any emails regarding financial aid status or deadlines for Dartmouth recently (i.e. prompts to submit certain documents)?

Admissions and financial aid work as two separate functions. I have seen it work both ways, where request from financial aid had an admissions coming and request for financial aid information also had a denial/waitlist at the end of the process. Just submit what is asked for and let the process play itself out.

Did u get one?

No. Which is why I am curious. Anyone else?

Last year(or the year before), they sent it on 2/25

Plus ca change, plus cest la meme chose. [Please excuse any misspellings and lack of diacritic marks.] This comes up every year. I do not think anyone has ever demonstrated a statistically significant connection between a financial aid question and a later admission decision.

The FA office prompted my DD’s FA documents this morning in their portal. It seemed that they finally acknowledged the receipt of all FA related documents that she uploaded thru CSS and IDOC.

@aboutthesame @sybbie719: In my experience, almost all who got email (especially for internationals), were accepted. I have seen the last 2 years’ threads and I found this correlation correct. Last year, I applied to Dartmouth, didn’t get any email, rejected. But it seems like they discontinued it this year.
@ptryoon: AFAIK, that isn’t the email that correlates with admission. I could be wrong

I received the correct finaid email “Although the Admissions Committee is still deliberating, the Financial Aid Office is currently reviewing Class of 2019 documents… Etc” twice on 2/7 and 2/16 of this year, but no likely letter as of yet.

Wow. If past forums are correct, you can expect a positive decision come D-Day.
Anyone else who got a similar email!

@Oberyn‌
Did you submit your documents on time with the exception of the IDOC? What I fail to understand is why a college would send financial aid notification emails if they already have all the required materials…

Everything was on time except IDOC. My IDOC has not even been processed even though I uploaded 2 weeks ago.

same thing here. Received emails on 2/7 and 2/16.

Dear Iamabigbug,

Although the Admissions Committee is still deliberating, the Financial Aid Office is currently reviewing Class of 2019 documents. We want to ensure that when candidates are selected for admission, we will have sufficient information on file to make a financial aid decision. Please check online for detailed information.

If you have recently supplied the requested information, please allow at least one week for this information to be processed and logged in to our system. You may check online at any time to see the status of your application.

The CSS Profile is an application for Dartmouth scholarship and is required for consideration of institutional funds. If you wish to apply only for federal aid and not Dartmouth scholarship, please contact our office by phone or email and we will update your file. To apply for federal aid, you must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

If you have additional questions about financial aid, please contact us at (800) 443-3605 or Financial.Aid@Dartmouth.edu.

Please do not reply to this email address.

If you no longer wish to be considered for financial assistance, please notify our office.

It is a generic email. Don’t read anything more I to it

It just seems rather strange to me that a “generic” email is nonetheless not being sent to all financial aid applicants (not entirely automated). Furthermore BetterThanBest seems correct in suggesting that for previous years, applicant treads have revealed a definite correlation between receipt of such emails and eventual acceptance. Oh well. Here’s wishing for the best. Good luck everyone.

Oh well, since i still didn’t get the email, it seems like i already got rejected :frowning: lol

don’t know if there is any indication. I got a likely letter today, which was dated 2/11. Yes, I did apply for financial aid.

Anybody else receive emails recently?

^Same question. Also, congrats @Iamabigbug!

e mail this morning
