Financial aid notification

Hi,

Do the schools let you know one way or another if you received financial aid or not? For instance if my son got an acceptance with no notification about aid one way or another does that mean he didn’t receive any? Or will they tell you straight out “you didn’t receive aid”?

Thanks so much in advance!

We received an acceptance email first and about 30 min later an email re. the aid.
So there was a gap (and we could not pay full price) between the two

@PrepDad2018 thanks! So you had no idea until the second email came whether or not you would be getting the aid?! Or do you think they would have told you, you didn’t get aid? Thanks!!

We had no idea until the 2nd email. So our celebration was cautious for the first 30 min.

And sometimes there may be several days, not 30 minutes, between the two. With my second child, we got the FA info more than a week after the acceptance email.

Wow. I had no idea the wait could be that long. Just when one anxiety resolves, another emerges. Alas, this is the story of parenting.

Does Andover release FA information in the portal? I saw the decision letter in portal but no FA info mentioned at all…

@wilsonmago my andover friend says she got the aid info in the physical acceptance package

Some schools give you the grant amount in the acceptance letter.

I just got into Exeter as a PG and the Financial aid package was sent by email half an hour later

I had this very question because we have two days schools pending. Our son was accepted to two boarding schools, we received an e-mail notification from one school directly after his acceptance email. For the second, we thought we would have to wait to for the acceptance package in the mail, however, my son, clicked on the button on the bottom of the acceptance email that said to click if we’d like to accept the offer. He clicked it out of curiosity and then we saw a button that said, “financial aid offer.” Boy do we grown ups feel like idiots.

On one acceptance the aid offer was within the online acceptance letter, the second (a local day school) sent it separately within 30 minutes.
