Financial aid notification

i was accepted to hss. if i send the finaid docs from hamilton and villanova, do you think they will change??

Package was to the good. Our issue all along has been that I pay the whole thing - with an EFC of ~16k, but ex hubby's numbers get factored in, and he makes huge well above 6 figure bucks so my kids end up getting offered nothing. Well,CMU listened to me. They did not meet EFC as calculated but a far cry from some of the others who basically offered a stafford loan. Its a very workable solution for us.

I want to know too... I was waitlisted and here's mine

Cost of Attend : 52,986
EFC : 12,360
Totale Fin Need : 40,626

Grant : 18,270
Work Study : 2,800
Loans : 9,500
Total Aid : 30,570

Unmet Fin Aid : 10,056

Umm.. pretty much my parents are paying 35,000 a year (my parents won't loan).. ya.. they made a little over 36K last year.. GOOD BYE CARNEGIE

Ouch, that's pretty bad.

i STILL havent gotten my financial aid package.. i just called admissions and they said to wait a week or two. that gives me only a week to make my decisions! this is ridiculous.

^^ Same here! I've called them up multiple times. Strange thing is they never received my FAFSA (hence the reason I called them). They kept telling me to check back in a week, until today, when the person told me to resubmit the FAFSA. So technically, they haven't even looked at my application for federal aid. This is very frustrating! I want to go to this school too >:[

trust me you don't want it.. you don't want to see how f-ed you are...

We are still waiting for D's financial aid package. Its frustrating because it is the only thing we need so she can make her decision.

Checked "Where am I in the Process" and noticed it was mailed today for my S.

how many days does it actually take for the financial aid letter to arrive? the actual admission notification "i.e. official fat letter" took a WHILE!!!

My fin aid was sent out on the 30th and I just got it Saturday.

ahh i still didnt get mine..
shouldnt it show up online??

CMU is an excellent school. CMU is open to re-considering their Financial Aid offer based on competing offers from other schools. You have to demonstrate that you are keen on attending CMU.
I hope this helps:
"At Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania, the financial aid office invites students to send in better offers from other colleges. The competing offers are run through a computer program that compares different factors. William Elliot, Enrollment VP, says, "I'm making a market call: What's it going to take to get that student to think more seriously about Carnegie Mellon?" Carnegie Mellon increased awards to 460 of the 800 students who submitted competitive offers and more than half of those students enrolled."
