Has anyone received their award information yet? Submitted FAFSA back in November and CSS Profile in early January.
Nothing by mail yet. Just checked the portal and info is posted there.
Ours literally says “EFC=0” and “Aid=0” Nice. No mention of the scholarships even. Maybe I’m looking in the wrong place.
Update: D’s awards were posted online this week and the snail mail letter arrived today.
Virtual Pioneer - those students admitted at early action/early decision who have been selected as Archdiocesan nominees have already been notified. Finalist spaces have been reserved for the regular decision candidates who will hear in March. Unfortunately, it is a tight turnaround for those students to make arrangement to come to the interview day.
Sursumcorda - I’m sorry to hear about your portal difficulties. Your student should be able to initiate the password reset process from this link - https://computing.cua.edu/password/index.cfm - the required information on the page is:
CUA username
CUA ID
DOB
Last 4 of social
If your student does have the email that included the username, please contact enrollment services at 202-319-5300.
Hope this helps!
@Alf Tupper. Thanks for that update. That’s disappointing to hear though. Both our Catholic options did not select my child for the top merit interviews although most of the public flagship universities applied to have. We homeschool and have no experience with college admissions, but the lack of success with Catholic colleges compared to OOS top public universities (and we are obviously Catholic in the applications so it isn’t that) makes me suspect I am missing something in this process like no demonstrated interest or something. (We live in an isolated, distant place.)
I had really wanted a strong Catholic university to be in the final running for college, but even having been awarded the top merit awards other than Archdiocesan, I think Catholic will still be out of reach since they consider the non-custodial parent in awarding aid. I finally figured out that is why it says EFC=0, Aid=0 in our portal, (oddly, the merit scholarships already awarded aren’t showing up on there) but my kid’s non-custodial father is not going to pay $30,000+ a year, I don’t think. Of course, the school also counts my husband’s income, but that is very low this year.
Anyway, thanks for the update. At least we know now and can focus on the upcoming full-ride public interviews. I just hate giving up the Catholic college option and will now have to think about how we proceed and try to figure out what went wrong with the Catholic applications for my next child.
