Financial Aid Offer

How generous is the financial aid (need and merit) given out by the Financial Aid office of Syracuse University?

So far, SU has been very generous.
I would not be here without all the help I've received from SU.
Both scholarship and need, I received the most of both from SU than the other 9 schools that I applied to.

I cannot help but agree with IlluSU. Theres a great number of people that I've spoken who said they chose Syracuse because of their generous aid package. It seems almost as if Syracuse has a larger endowment than the Ivy leagues.

My daughter got no merit and no aid. Boo! She was offered merit for several other schools but Syracuse gave her nothing.

This post is obviously very complimenting to SU's fin aid and scholarships but I have heard a few other places that it is hard to get a good chunk of change from here. College cost is very important to me. Anyone else have input on this? I know I am qualified for admission (I realize that sounds cocky) but I'm not sure how qualified I am for scholarships. I know I qualify for fin aid...

stephrad: from what I can assess from this past year, unless you are eligible for the Coronat Scholarship (arts and science or dual enrollment w/ A&S primary only; full tuition, room and board), the maximum merit scholarship seems to be $18,000/year, and I think that is only a A&S maximum scholarship #. If anyone in Whitman, Newhouse, Architecture, etc. received more than $12,000 they can chime in.
