My S waits patiently for his financial aid package from UT. He was accepted for regular admission way back in November 08 and to honors about a month later. We sent in the FAFSA early in February and UT notified us well over two weeks ago that they had everything they needed and were working on his aid. We faithfully check the fin aid website daily, but it continues to say that it's not available yet. It also says that they do not need anything else from us. Could the length of time it's taking have to do with getting scholarships logged in along with need-based aid, or is this a normal amount of time to wait to get your package? I made several attempts to call them on Friday, but either got voice mail or a busy signal each time. S is in the College of Natural Sciences, by the way.

I visited UT yesterday and they said everyone’s financial packages will arrive in mid-April, regardless of time. Just be patient.

It’s normal. They email you when it’s ready:

The Office of Student Financial Services is pleased to inform you that
we have calculated your eligibility for financial aid for the 2008-2009
school year. This aid package was developed based on information
reported on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You can view
and activate your aid right now by visiting the following website:
<a href=“Sign in with your UT EID - Stale Request”>Sign in with your UT EID - Stale Request; Entering or new students will
also be sent a paper version of the Financial Aid Notification.

Thank you,
Office of Student Financial Services / The University of Texas at Austin

I got that on April 20th last year (I completed my fasfa in February too).

Thanks for the responses. Although we are not expecting to get a whole lot of $'s, we are anxious to compare it to other offers. But mostly it makes me feel better to know that our account didn’t somehow get lost in the shuffle while everyone else’s got processed. I was particularly concerned because someone else told me that once you received the email saying they (UT) had everything and were processing the info, it should only take about 2 weeks to get your fin aid package. That, apparently, is not the case.

Does anyone know about UT’s Financial aid to International students? Are they generous to International student?

No. You should expect to get absolutely no aid whatsoever.

Sorry, but the state of Texas isn’t particularly inclined to give away Texan taxpayer money to foreigners.
