Financial Aid Package

Do anyone know what we can expect in our financial aid package?
When does it come?
What scholarships and grants are typically given?

It will vary a lot, depending on your stats, in-state status, EFC, etc. My son was OOS and we had a very high EFC. He had great stats and got a small engineering scholarship. He was also eligible to take out some loans. That was it for him. Most students get more help, though.

my daughter is still waiting to receive any word on her finanical aid package! called the fa office, and said she may not hear until the 2nd week in march, leading all the way into the 1st of april! she is oos.

mainelonghorn–was your son granted an in-state tutition waiver because he received a scholarship?

anxious for her to make a decision so that we can start planning summer orientations–it’s a little harder for us being so far away from the out-of-state schools that she has been accepted into. this waiting game is terrible for a person who just wants to get plans made!!

mdksj, my dad initially thought my son would get an OOS waiver with his scholarship, but it turns out that there are VERY few waivers given. I think the engineering school has a total of 7 or 8, and that’s for students in any year of college!

We were in the same boat last year. Waiting was hard! We found out what needed to be done to qualify him as in-state for next year, so hopefully that will work out. We can’t afford four years of OOS tuition. (if you’re interested, do a search of this forum and you’ll find threads devoted to it)

Mainelonghorn:
When did you get your FA package last year? Mid March? My D is BME at Texas.

plagmah, I think it was a lot later than that. April sometime, maybe? I knew we weren’t getting much, so I didn’t think about it a lot.
