Thanks so much! I got some and I’m very pleased!

Your the best!

no problem! :D

Didn’t mean to ruffle anyone with my comments previously about financial aid programs possibly being changed and some being discontinued, and also tuition being increased; I just assumed folks knew what was going on.

when should I start accepting my loans and work study?

Wait until you know for a fact that everything (outside aid and other resources) have been accounted for. You don’t have to accept anything until sometime in August, IIRC. It’s not like you lose out on anything by waiting, but you just don’t want to reject the loan and THEN add a scholarship… because they’ll take money away (sometimes even more than you were awarded in the scholarship) from your grant instead of reducing the loan offer.

Thanks for all the great replies! I had a question about my financial aid package. I qualify for the FAS Bright Futures scholarship, but it doesn’t show up on my package. Should it be on there? I get about 15,000 through scholarships and grants, plus I got a 3,000 loan. With the 100% bright futures scholarship I wouldn’t need the loan. I just wanted to know if bright futures should be on there (it was on my UCF financial aid package) and if when they put it on there, would they take the loan away or from the other grants? Sorry, I know its a confusing question. Thanks!

It should be there my bright futures showed up and if you know that you’re fully covered and don’t have to worry about the loan you can deny it…i did but only if you’re sure…and yes bright futures should appear on your financial aid package if not call the financial aid office

Hi everyone, I was just wondering…it’s already March 25th, and they still haven’t posted anything on my financial aid student toolkit. I talked to a financial aid representative yesterday and they said to check again today. I did, but it shows nothing. So I’m going to have to call again today. Is anybody also in this situation ? I don’t know if maybe, the reason why it doesn’t show is because I was accepted for spring 2012…

it might be because of spring 2012. but im not totally sure.

okay now that we saw how much the school awarded us do we get an official letter in the mail

question: So USF offered me a Federal Supplemental Grant and Residential Grant (as well as Pell Grants & other private scholarships). FSU just offered me the Federal Pell Grant and an FSU scholarship. If the grants are federal, shouldn’t they apply to FSU as well?

(Note: USF thinks I’m an out-of-state student for some reason, FSU knows I am in-state). I’m not sure if the Residential Grant is Federal either.

I got my financial aid package & it’s disappointing. The only thing I have is the pell grant (5,550) & they’re not even giving me enough loans… not that I would want that much in loans. I qualify for BF but it doesn’t show up. They’re not even giving me work study. Nothing. It was really sad to have to tell my mom. She spent money on the school already even though she couldn’t afford to do so… sigh

Now I have to choose between UCF, UF, USF, & UNF because I wouldn’t have to take out any loans. I’m not really interested in them right now but that will change when I get over the shock.

lovetodance,

I got a lot of aid and grants from other florida public schools that I didn’t get from FSU. Maybe they’re just not giving that kind of aid?

Federal SEOG is a campus-based federal program administerd by the financial aid offices at participating colleges. Federal Pell money goes to every eligible student; SEOG goes to students thru local college with available funds at the college until dried up at local college pool of money. So students might get it at one college but not another. Some students at FSU do get SEOG money.

If anyone was offered loans or work study in their FSU financial aid award offers recently, I don’t think it would be prudent to turn them down right now until things are finalized by the feds, state, and FSU as far as money available to students next school year from grants, scholarships, plus tuition and fees, etc. You might need every penny you can get your hands on for next year. Charges and available aid amounts are far from being finalized yet for next school year.

Too, if you’re on a tight budget, I wouldn’t go buying a new car or taking a vacation in Europe this summer until the dust has settled on all these college money matters for next year; you don’t want to be caught short money-wise for next fall semester.

Cassy94,

I have the same pell grant as well, plus BF, however the BF does not appear yet on any financial aid pages for any universities. I will call them tomorrow about those grants and BF, and will let you know if they offer me anything else. You sound like you have your heart set of FSU, try calling them as well to explain your situation. Also, see if your guidance counselor can pull some strings for you.

Tallalassie,

Thanks! I’m still going to call them about it though.
