Financial Aid Package

When do I receive my financial aid package from UMich? I already know that I have received a $20K scholarship from the University, but it would be nice to know how much total it's going to cost me...

i was wonering what were your stats that you received the scholarship for...

mine are

sat: 1460
act:31
gpa: 4.0 uw
all ap courses and other stuff

do you think I will qualify for a scholarship?

College_hopeful, since you are out of state, Michigan will cost you roughly $7,000-$8,000 in tuition alone. Room and board will probably cost you another $7,000. Books and general cost of living will probably cost another $5,000. I would say in total, you are looking at $20,000/year, assuming you do not get aid from another source.

Just so that you know, attending most private universities will cost you roughly $45,000/year, unless they give you sholarship money. So Michigan is a bargain.

Out-of-state students would love it if it were only $8000 in tuition....did you mean in-state?

The financial aid office is working hard to get aid letters out ASAP. I believe the first batch will go before March 1

No Hoedown. I was responding to CollegeHopeful who said he had received a $20,000 scholarship. I was telling him that he would end up paying $8,000 for tuition out of his own pocket.

Alexandre maybe you misunderstood. My scholarship is a total of $20,000 meaning it's going to give me $5K/year...

College hopeful- Did you get the scholarship info along with your acceptance? If not, when did you find out?

A few weeks after my acceptance I got the scholarship offer.

I see. That is a different story. I thought you were reafering to another scholarship that gives out $20,000/year. Still, Michigan is $5,000 cheaper than most elite private universities, so a $5,000 scholarship will still save you $10,000. Not much, but better than nothing.
