so I received my financial aid package today and it only covers 1/8 of the total cost. My efc(expected family contribution) on the UW Madison site(my student center - specifically the financial info page) is 5 times the amount calculated by FAFSA. Does anyone know why the numbers don't correlate to the one on FAFSA? I really wanted to attend UW Madison but now I don't think I can anymore because I don't have enough financial aid....=/

Call the financial aid office and talk to them. They have your information, we do not, and they can check into any problems.

Also look into the Parent PLUS loan. There’s info on the UW financial aid website, and even if you get denied for it, you can get $4,000 more in Stafford loans. I say this because I had no idea what that loan was until I called the financial aid office my freshman year, and they were so helpful and explained so many different options to me.

So call them.
