How are people already getting their financial aid packages? Don't we have to submit FASFA first?

Well, we could say people got their FA notifications because Fordham let them know. But that presumes too much the causal nature of things; we can’t know for sure that Fordham’s decision to notify them was the cause of their being notified, only that they were, indeed, notified, and that we can conjecture with reasonable confidence (but no certainty) that something Fordham did was responsible for it.

Humean musings aside, isn’t it mostly merit scholarships that have been coming in? You do have to submit the FAFSA to get the final-decision award in April.

So if I got accepted back in November but I haven’t been notified about receiving any money is there a chance they could still give me some merit-based aid or not?

Financial aid packages come out in Jan/Feb. I received $10K merit aid without FAFSA. My mom called the SFAS number from the Fordham email and submitted one yesterday. Now that we filed our FAFSA, Fordham will know that our family does not qualify for financial aid and give us more merit aid.
