Financial Aid - Parents moving to Canada - child in US college

Our daughter is midway through her College and intending to apply to Savannah College of Art and Design (a private art school) for her final 2 years of her bachelors degree. Up until now FAFSA has taken care of her needs at the local community college.

Will she still get FAFSA Pell grants once we are Canadian residents?

I recommend u call on the Fafsa help line. It is a free call, and you can call anonymously.

Is she a US citizen (or qualified permanent resident)? If so she is eligible for federal aid wherever you are living. If your income still gives her an EFC that qualifies her for a Pell grant then she will still get it.

Of course the Pell and federal aid will probably not anywhere near cover her need at a private school. Does the school offer institutional aid?

Yes she is a US citizen.

Yes Pell grants won’t come anywhere close, but any help is appreciated. Yes there is some help available, but of course nowhere near enough.

So I understand that her situation doesn’t change at all?

We still fill out the FAFSA as usual, just indicate that the parents residency is changed?

Yes just fill it as usual. Where you live does not matter. She is a US citizen so she is eligible for federal aid.
