Financial Aid predictions?

<p>So I got accepted to NU ED. I did the CSS profile and NU said the EFC for my family should be 31K, which is a bit too high for us. So we appealed and they didn't do anything. So now we just did our 2009 taxes and filled out FAFSA. FAFSA sayes our EFC should be 10K. Is NU going to take FAFSA into consideration or possibly match it (that would be awesome :D ). So ya, u guys have any guess on where the EFC will fall?</p>

<p>Thank you!!</p>

<p>yeah they should redo it after the new fafsa. you might want to try redoing your css profile too</p>

<p>Hi Smarty~First~CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ED ACCEPTANCE!!
Second~Does your request for review by the financial aid office include the 2009 tax information or 2008? Does the CSS reflect information that has radically changed from the time you initially submitted it. I found the amount FAFSA listed on our EFC was not even close to how NU determined was our family’s contribution for COA. ie-FAFSA does not take into account your primary residence-and the amount of loans/equity and CSS/NU does.
Third~is there some other information you feel warrants another request for review of your financial aid package? ie~Mom and/or Dad had a full time job when you applied but not now, or >>>???
Keep the lines of communication open with the Financial Aid office, be respectful and appreciative, and you will most likely get a package that works with your family’s needs(not necessarily wants-so-keep that in perspective)
G’Luck! APOL-a mom</p>
