For fall 2010 I withdraw out of all my classes because I had to leave the country to attend a funeral and I have been place on probation but I am still receiving aid for spring 2011 and I am taking 12 credit hours if I pass all of my classes and meet SAP will I be taken off of probation? If I am required to file an appeal and it get approve will I get financial aid for fall 2011 or would I have to wait till spring 2012? I have try going to my FA office and asking all these question but all they can tell me is maybe!!! This is very frustrating I have a 3.2 gpa currently but I am sure after this semester it will go up because I have never fail any classes before.

If you meet all of the SAP standards (there are different components to SAP) then you should be off probation again. If you don’t and lose your aid for fall semester, but file a successful appeal, you would likely have your aid reinstated for fall but unlikely to get any aid beyond that semester unless you’re fully meeting their criteria. Did they explain exactly what the problem is and what you must do to meet SAP again?

SAP requirements are set by each school. You need to talk to the folks at YOUR school to get your questions answered.

I already know the SAP requirements for my school and I have try talking to them but all they told me was maybe I get off if I meet SAP or maybe I will have to file an appeal, so not much help really. The problem was that I did not meet 67% of my classwork and in order to meet SAP I will just have to pass 12 credit hour this semester.

I don’t know your school’s policies…but “passing” the classes might meet SAP but it might NOT get you off of academic probation. If it were me, I’d be aiming for A’s and B’s in all of the courses you are taking now.

They counted my total credit so by the end of this semester I would have attempted 63 hours and in order to meet the 67% mark I would have to pass and earn 42 hours to meet SAP. So by the end of this semester I will have exactly 42 hours and that put me towards Good Standing/Meeting SAP again. I just wanted to know will that take me off of probation.

O yeah when i say “passing” I always aim for a B+ or higher otherwise my parents kill me.

And I am not on academic probation my gpa is just fine I am on financial aid probation not because of my grade but because they use the “Quantitative Measure”. “A student must maintain a “C” average each term and maintain a 67% completion rate.”

Any chance you can still sign up for another course…I’d hate to be right at the cutoff!

I wish I could…but the add/drop period is over with but thanks for that suggestion. I will go ask my counselor tomorrow to see if he could place me into another course, since school only started last Wednesday.
