I had no idea that applicants could check their application process on CMU's website until this morning. I don't recall CMU ever emailing me about my account username and password.

The site says that I still have to submit:
IRS Tax Return Transcript - Parent
IRS Tax Return Transcript - Student
Student's Federal Income Tax Return (I don't work)
Student's W-2 Forms (I don't work)

I completed the Financial Aid Attestations just now. Am I screwed???? Do you think Carnegie Mellon won't give me financial aid? I've submitted CSS, FAFSA, and my parents' forms.

The site says this when I click the financial aid notification button the top of the page:
Your financial aid processing is not yet complete.
Check back on 'Where Am I In the Process' to be sure you've submitted all your required documents.

It is my understanding they will send you a “preliminary offer” based on the info they do have on hand and will then adjust that once they have everything they need. Some items won’t be relevant (such as you W-2) and you just let them know that. I think this list of items is boilerplate, meaning everyone has that on their portal and receives the same message when they click.

I don’t know but I really don’t think it will impact anything. I think those just ultimately impact their ability to release funds to you as well as releasing information to third parties in order to receive those funds to disburse to you if you qualify for financial aid, etc;

When you received the confirmation after submitting FAFSA, did it say that you were selected for IRS verification? I think that is what the “IRS Tax Return Transcript - Parent” and “IRS Tax Return Transcript - Student” items refer to.

I have the transcript items unchecked on my portal as well. I emailed Carnegie Mellon twice about this a few weeks ago and both emails went unanswered. I never received anything about IRS verification. Strangely enough, they did correct another issue I pointed out in the email but didn’t notify me about it. I hope I’ll still be able to get an aid package soon if I’m accepted.

I had the same problem with the student forms being expected to come, so I called and they told me to write/mail a letter to them stating that I am unemployed and thus do not have tax returns/W-2 forms (although my tax return thing was waived already because of the IDOC package that included the non-filer’s statement?).
