Ok, so I've been wondering if I'll be able to attain more non-loan financial aid from UF.
I've received highest level bright futures, highest level pell grant, work study, fed. direct sub loan of 3.5k, FL assistance grant of 1,205, perkins loan of 615, supplemental grant of 200, and direct unsub loan of 2k.
I noticed you can petition your financial aid for a variety of reasons and because I recently turned 18, I lost my social security benefits.
My dad makes a little over 20k a year if that information is helpful.
Thanks in advance :]

i appreciate that its private information, but how much money are you accepting? you don’t need the full 18k that they say you do. 14k should be enough for most people.

to more directly answer your question: you can call them and ask if they can make anything available, but they’ll probably say they cant do anything.

With loans, 18kish. And isn’t tuition and living on campus combined to be around 18kish?

no. its been a long time and i don’t remember the details, but i think i managed my first semester with 11-12k, and the estimate was round 16k. you should obviously start coming up with a realistic budget of your own, keeping in mind that their numbers are inflated. you wont need a whole 1k for books, i passed on the insurance they provide and only carry srs biz large bill hospitalization coverage, i don’t buy $700 worth of clothes a year, definitely didn’t spend $500 on transportation. they assume you’re getting a meal plan, and i saved money by not doing that. if you already have a laptop, the $1000 technology expense isn’t real.

18k is a lot of money. sit down and seriously come up with an expected week to week budget. that will be infinitely more valuable than the 18k estimation SFA gives you.
