Financial Aid question??

Hey guys,
I was recently accepted into the University of Arizona, but as an out-of-state student. So I am now filing a consortium agreement, but am only going to enroll in 3 units and then enroll in 9 units at Pima Community College. My question is, how much financial aid will I receive if I am only enrolled in 3 units at the UA. Also, if they do not approve the consortium agreement then I will have to take all of my classes at Pima Community College (it would be 12 units), but would I be able to receive financial aid for fall 2013 for Pima as well? I'm just really confused with all of this. Thanks!

Ask the colleges.

I think you’ll be consider a full time student at Pima Community College with 9 or 12 credit hours, so your Federal financial ad would go to Pima.

I do not think that you can receive financial aid at more than one school at a time because you can only be matriculated at one school at a time.

with 9-11 credits, student would be considered three quarter-time and aid would be prorated accordingly (student will need to take at least 12 credits to be considered full time and receive is allocated full time financial aid).

At the University of Arizona where student is taking taking the 3 credits, s/he may not be eligible for much if any for financial aid because they are less than part time (one must have at least part time status in order to recive subsidized/unsubsidized stafford loans).

In order to receive pell on a less than half time basis, the cost of attendance would have to be at least $2300, where student with a 0 EFC would receive pell of $588

If student is going to attend U of Arizona, s/he may have to pay for classes out of pocket.

IF the two schools are in a formal consortium agreement, and IF you are enrolled in both schools as part of that consortium agreement, you would receive aid at one school based on enrollment at both schools. Do not assume that you are properly enrolled, though … you MUST check to be sure. I used to work at a school that had a consortium agreement with a CC, and students often thought they were part of the consortium agreement when they were not. Because you can only receive aid at one school at a time, based on enrollment at that school, it is very important that you contact the aid office to discuss this.
