Im an international student from Korea, (well i have been living in America for quite some time now), and should I ask colleges for FA? does it hurt my admission chances? do american colleges even give FA to international students?
Yes, a lot of Ivy Leagues give FA to international students. If you need a lot, then you better be brilliant.
except for Ivys, do a lot of top privates also give FA to international students? and I dont need THAT much, but reasonable amount of FA would be g8
Yes, they do. But it will be more difficult to get in. But if you do get in, most of the top private colleges guarantee to meet your needs, even if you are an international student.
@Kimdy0 you already applied for schools, and you should have known that applying for financial aids for most schools give you a huge disadvantage. Why ask now?
Except Harvard, MIT, Dartmouth, Amherst, Yale, Princeton, and Pomona(since you are completing high school in US), which are need blind to all applicants(Pomona treats international kids who finished US high school as a domestic applicant) AND guarantee 100% need met, almost all the other schools are need aware.
No i havent applied for colleges yet. Im only a junior now

Many colleges and universities do offer some scholarships to international students. However, that doesn’t mean that they offer a lot of money to a lot of students. It might just be one small scholarship every year.
This means that you need to start by finding out what your family can afford to pay. Then you need to look for places that fit your budget. If you have been in the US for a number of years, you may qualify for in-state tuition and fees at the public colleges and universities in the state where you are living. Ask your guidance counselor about that.
