financial aid question

My family used to be very wealthy, 100million+. last year(freshman year) my dad lost the entire company and went in debt but made 60k so my efc was around 15k and U of M gave me 15k fin aid (10k Gap) We were able to swallow that with relative's help.. My dad made 60k again this year so I dont expect my fin aid would change by now, but my dad is about to declare bankruptcy in June. My family income would become 0, with 0 savings and assets. I am just wondering, if anyone know if I appeal or request for a financial review, would I be able to get something more based on financial circumstances this year? Would I be able to get something more next year if not this year?

anyone????

Sorry about your Dad's situation. I am a Bankruptcy attorney in Michigan and have seen many client's companies go down the tubes. He should be able to save some of his assets thru the bankruptcy.
As for your situation you should contact UofM's financial aid dept. The are very helpful and knowledgable. With your Dad's permission you might want to send them a copy of the Bankruptcy petition. I don''t think anything can be done for this term but perhaps then can increase aid for fall. They will want to see a copy of his tax return and you'll need to provide them a copy of 2008 return next year.
Good luck
