Financial Aid Questions

Has anyone received their aid package yet? I know it's supposed to be coming sometime this month and I've gotten mine for every other school I got into.

And for current Bing students, do you guys think your current aid packages are good? (particularly for in state students). Like do you think they are sufficient enough that you wont be in loads of debt when you're out of school? (I know Bing's full tuition is pretty cheap but the full 80k in debt after school would still suck.) I mean it would be manageable if I have to pay full price as an in state student but a good aid package would definitely help.

Thanks guys :)

Spoke with Financial Aid the other day, was told emails/notifications should start this Friday. Let’s hope :)

Oh wow tomorrow ! That’s perfect, hopefully they come in quickly. Thank you so much :)

Just copied this from my BUBRAIN:

NEW FALL 2011 STUDENTS:
Beginning on Thursday, March 24, 2011, Financial Aid Services will make 2011-12 financial aid award offers available online via the “Financial Aid Award” text link below.

So I guess we’ll all find out tomorrow

If your EFC is $5K are you likely to get any FA offer at all? No $$ was offered in my acceptance letter.

Financial aid for Bing arrives separately.

CM,

Yes, I realize only scholie$$ arrives with acceptance letter, just not sure what to expect, if anything, from F/A.

How much does it cost to attend for the 2011-2012 school year for instate students??

Looks like around $22K to me

Anyone know if there’s still merit offers yet to be made, or if everyone has heard already if they’re getting one? Thanks :)

I think it’s around $19,000, actually. I just checked on their website and it is like $18,750 or somewhere around there.

My EFC is around 7k, I got no aid aside from the stafford/plus loans and a work-study for 1500 a yr.

I only received $5500 federal unsubsidized loans.

I also only received the federal 5500. I got a very small TAP grant too. So not much aid at all

Binghamton doesn’t offer many pure merit scholarships mostly because they don’t have to to attract the best students.

They tie merit aid to family financial need.

Departmental scholarships are sometimes available after the freshman year to continuing students.

Best bet is to research other sources of aid like [College Answer: The Planning for College Destination](http://www.collegeanswer.com)

Binghamton’s 4-year grad rate makes things sound better than many schools that might offer 4-year scholarships but you get out in 5 or 6 years.

Binghamton ranked #4 in the nation for average starting salary of new grads…
