Financial Aid Questions

I got a provisional admit into Pomona, what does that mean?
And when I checked my financial aid status for the year 2012, it said self service not available?

I can’t see my Financial aid rewards at all. I completed my fafsa a long time ago. What is this suppose to mean?

Thanks for your answers!

Have they asked you for more documentation? In the beginning of March, they asked me to FAX copies of my taxes (I’m the mom of a future student) and the dependent student verification form. These requests were sent by email and also showed up in Bronco Direct under the To Do list. Then last week they requested copies of my W2s. I spoke to them on the phone Monday and asked when we would know about how much financial aid we would receive. She said in April so that students would have the information before deciding what college they wanted to go to. Intent to Registers are due around May 1, I believe.

Did you also apply for a Cal Grant by sending your GPA verification to the Cal Grant people?

I only have two things to do on my to do list. 1. Send in highschool final transcript. 2. Enrollment confirmation Deposit. I never got an email stating for more documentation. I checked my portal for financial aid and it says this: 2012 Cal Poly Pomona Award access not available. Yeah I applied for cal grant and sent my gpa for verification. I got accepted to ucr and ucmerced and their financial award statuses already updated. I’m just worried a bit because pomona hasnt updated yet. Did your son’s award status update yet?

As of a few days ago, it wasn’t available. I don’t know my son’s password but I’ll check tonight or tomorrow. From what the lady told me on the phone, it won’t show until April. Did you apply for the “general scholarships” at Pomona?

You can check your cal grant amount here - <a href=“CSAC - Student Landing Home”>CSAC - Student Landing Home;

Still no award amounts show but if you click on the link that says “Financial Aid Summary,” it shows this (I Xed out the money amounts):

Derek, provisional admit means you’ve been admitted base on what you’ve provided in your application. After you send in your final docs and successfully fulfill all requirements, then you’ll be guaranteed admission. If you do not, like getting a D in an in-progress class, then admission offer will be rescinded.

From the Cal Poly Pomona web site:

And what the statuses mean: [Application Status Help < eHelp < Cal Poly Pomona](http://www.csupomona.edu/~ehelp/broncodirect/applicationstatus.html)

Notification for Financial aid rewards for Fall can take up to August, early September. So if you do not receive anything now, don’t fret. If you’re really concerned, you can always contact the Financial Aid office.

I got a D in second semester english class during my junior year.

I indicate that grade i got on my application when i apply to cal state universities. and i got admitted into cal poly pomona but im wondering if they will take back their admission decision when i turn in final transcript in July!!! (i came from another country and my first language is not english.) *my major is accounting…
the admission officer from cal state la said that as long as every grade i put on the application is the same as my final transcript then i will be fine. but i dont know if this also apply to cal poly pomona…

I don’t think getting a D in your Junior year will make a difference. That was already listed on your application, so they know about it. As long as you get C’s or higher your Senior year, you won’t have a problem.
