Financial Aid Questions

So like I’m a transfer student “hoping” to get into UMCP by Fall 2017. I have never filed for FAFSA as my parents would not cooperate with me when I needed their tax information.(Or more like, they don’t exactly understand whats on there and how it should be filled out on the website) I have applied for a few scholarships outside of the school. (doubt they would be any help). My parents specifically told me they weren’t going to help me pay for my tuition when I get accepted, so I have been working part-time to try and save up money. I was wondering if it was too late to consider UMD scholarships, or any other ways I would be able to financially pay for the school. Also, if i try for FAFSA again during October would they be able to consider grants/loans for me in the spring of 2018. Any answers appreciated!!
P.S. I also attend one of UMD’s partnered community colleges, and on our website it says that any students transferring to UMCP will be able to get a 25% course discount with MTAP?
The problem with MTAP was, my advisor told me it was too late to consider for it(??) I was confused as he didn’t really explain it to me in a way I could understand. Could someone please break it down for me :frowning:

If I am reading the MTAP website correctly, it looks like you missed the MTAP deadline for a Fall 2017 transfer student. You had to submit your MTAP application by November 15, 2016. If you are looking to transfer for the Spring of 2018, you would need to get your MTAP application in by June 1, 2017. In addition to getting your application in by the proper deadline, there are certain other requirements that have to be met to be able to take advantage of this program, if I am understanding the information on the website correctly. Take a look at the website at this link. https://www.admissions.umd.edu/apply/mtap.php I am guessing that your community college also has information that you should look up about MTAP.
