I got this:
(per semester)
FLORIDA BRIGHT FUTURES ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP - 1890.00
FEDERAL PELL GRANT - 2775.00
ACADEMIC COMPETITIVENESS GRANT - 375.00
SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY GRANT - 500.00
FLORIDA STUDENT ASSISTANCE GRANT - 1034.00
DIFFERENTIAL FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY GRANT - 900.00
FEDERAL SUBSIDIZED STAFFORD LOAN - 1583.00

That doesn't show the $3000 a semester scholarship directly from FSU that shows up on my status check (yes, I accepted it). Does that mean there's something wrong or do I have to report that myself?

Should I have to accept the loan?

I have anywhere from $1000-$7000 in private scholarship money and essay contests, but I won't actually get any of that sent to FSU until August or September of next year. Would I have to pay back any of the funds FSU offered me because of the scholarships?

Dnerd, first of all: Congratulations on your great academics and wonderful awards! You should be very proud – and so should your family!

You will need to declare your outside scholarships on your FSU financials page (there is a tab for outside funds). It is possible they might take back some of your grant money; it will probably depend on what kind of outside scholarships you won. But you must declare the funds; not to do so would be considered fraud.

I would get all your information together about the outside scholarships, then call the financial aid office and discuss it with them. They will be happy to talk to you about it and it will very likely help relieve any anxiety you might be having about losing some of your awards.

collegeorbust10, have you checked for her financial stuff on campus.fsu.edu? Mine’s up too, and I have the same things as Dnerd, still waiting on Bright Future’s though :)

Thank you torioreo… went to fsu.edu and checked her financial info, We really do not qualify for extra aid, but wanted to see in writing the University Scholarship, Stafford Loan, etc. FSU is still the best value in Florida for undergraduate education. We are very happy with FSU making her feel wanted.
