Financial Aid Reduction Due to Off-Campus Housing

I recently received an e-mail saying my financial was calculated incorrectly because they thought I was an on-campus student. My financial aid will be reduced. To students who have dealt with such issues, how much does your aid decrease by? Thank you

I don’t know the answer to your specific question, but I was changed to off-campus today even though I am going to live at Primero Grove through SHA. Are you sure that you’re off-campus? Because I think there’s something funny going on here - at least in my case…

I had the opposite happen when I thought I’d be living in an apartment complex not run by student housing and instead wound up in a student housing apartment. They bumped my aid up just enough to cover student housing costs in that case.

If I had to guess, the aid reduction will be to the point where you’re getting just enough refunded to pay your portion of rent each month, and possibly some other bills depending on your situation. It’s hard to say for sure without knowing your exact situation though.

@newton66 That does sound weird. Contact student housing and financial aid over the next week and get that clarified and/or fixed (if necessary).

My dd doesn’t receive FA but does reside off campus with roomies. Her rent is so much cheaper than her on-campus housing ever was.
I agree with @PhantomVirgo ^^^^^^^.
