EFC can be very misleading. When the value of your home is figured in you can appear much richer than you are. I do not have $30 grand/yr to pay for my son, but my EFC claims I have much more than that. I won’t be selling my house to pay for OOS tuition.
Believe your folks when they say this is expensive.

My kids have found their own way to get to college and it has made them much stronger people.

kharry, I’m in state and I heard from IU. Got a letter in the mail from IU listing all of my scholarships. I’m not sure if I’m exactly what you meant though, since all of my scholarships are merit (my EFC was high, not expecting any aid)

Hmm. Okay. My automatic scholarship is posted on Onestart, but I haven’t gotten a letter yet. My EFC was about 3500, so hopefully I’ll be getting info soon. Thanks! That does help.

go to onestart.iu.edu, and then enter your username and passphrase - if you haven’t set up your computer accounts yet, check the email or letter you got from admissions, it will tell you what to do.

Once you get in to onestart, go to student center, then click account inquiry (or something like that) to see your scholarship/financial aid package

I got a financial aid letter for my daughter…week ago? We didn’t get aid…just one un-subsidized loan. We’re instate. She applied VERY early. Perhaps they’re working apps in order of date received.?

That would make sense about the grants. I got that scholarship letter but it didn’t say anything I didn’t already know…Hopefully I’ll find out soon!
